RIP REDDIT

RIP REDDIT

Reddit is finally done. Their reign of cringe is over. They have made the business decision to lock down their API and have made it impossible for 3rd party services to access their site. Bad move. It could make sense from a short-sighted business perspective, but API access is what made Reddit thrive as a forum.

Reddit is on step two of the old failing business model. First the business will Build a product that users want. Then they will alienate their user base to please their shareholders. Then they will alienate their shareholders to bring back the user base.

DANGRUBB.NET believes this is a good thing. Reddit is a cancer that has grown to overtake many independent forums across the internet over the past decade. Now, if users can open their eyes a little bit, alternatives can emerge. Open source Lemmy.world has been growing so fast that it's been offline from too much traffic. Lemmy is a peice of the decentralized Fediverse.
